LinkedIn Ads.
The strongest place for professional targeting in B2B and higher education: title, industry, company size, skills. Clicks are expensive, so efficiency comes from audience narrowing, Lead Gen Forms and remarketing.
Campaign ManagerCampaign management
The platform for sponsored content, message ads, text and dynamic ads. Targeting relies on professional attributes; the balance between audience size and bid is critical.
- Title/function + industry intersection audiences
- Sponsored content + document (carousel/PDF) formats
- Frequency and audience-size monitoring
Lead Gen FormsIn-platform form
Forms pre-filled from profile data; the most effective way to lower CPL in B2B and education. With CRM integration the lead reaches the team instantly.
- Qualification filtering with a screening question
- CRM/email integration
- Form vs. landing page A/B
Insight Tag & Matched AudiencesMeasurement & remarketing
The tag that tracks site visitors and conversions; account-based marketing by uploading email/company lists (Matched Audiences).
- Site-visitor and video-viewer audiences
- ABM campaigns with company lists
- Conversion tracking and demographic reports
When it is the right channel
LinkedIn makes sense where the sales cycle is long and a single customer is worth a lot: master's and MBA programmes, enterprise services, B2B software. The common thread is that you can define the decision-maker by job title. In low-ticket e-commerce the click economics simply do not work, and comparing it to Google or Meta is meaningless.
How I set it up
I start narrow — title, company size and industry together; broad targeting gets expensive here fast. Lead Gen Forms cut friction, but I do not switch them on before the CRM is connected: in-platform forms produce plenty of leads, and without qualification the sales side drowns. Site visitors and target-company lists are built as separate audiences.
What I don't do
I don't run the same creative for weeks. The audience is small, so frequency climbs within days and response drops. And I don't report a LinkedIn lead as an application — that person showed interest, nothing more.
