What made this hard
In a boutique hotel the inventory is small and fixed: you can't sell the same weekend twice. The season is narrow and demand compresses into a few months. On top of that you compete with booking platforms in the same search — and those platforms can outrank the hotel even when a guest searches the hotel's own name, so the hotel buys back its own brand traffic at a commission.
What I prioritised
I protected brand search first: a guest searching the hotel's name should reach the hotel directly, without the commission layer in between. I've written separately about bidding on brand names. On generic search I concentrated on region and experience queries; on Meta, visual campaigns were built to gather demand ahead of the season, and because the booking window is long, remarketing stayed on throughout.
